Interim President

On January 28, 2020, the State University of New York Board of Trustees appointed Katherine P. Douglas, Ed.D., as interim president of Monroe Community College. Her appointment begins on February 3 and will continue for approximately 12 to 18 months while the College conducts a nationwide search for its permanent president.

MCC congratulates Dr. Douglas and thanks the students, faculty and staff who contributed their perspectives and voices to the interim president selection process. The appointment of Dr. Douglas aligns with the MCC Board of Trustees recommendation and survey responses received from the College community in December.

In her role as interim president, Dr. Douglas will:

  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, opportunity, innovation, and excellence to benefit students during this transitional period at the College.
  • Provide continuity and stability for the College. Support the College's internal programs and current strategic plan.
  • Maintain MCC's vibrant presence and relationships in the community and within SUNY.
  • Help MCC define its unique position within public higher education and the qualities we desire in our future president.

Interim President Selection Process

The involvement of students, faculty and staff in the interim president selection process was essential to MCC’s continued success as a nationally recognized leader in public higher education. In her role as interim president, Dr. Douglas will lead the College during the search for its permanent president.

Following a careful review of potential candidates provided by The Registry, the MCC Board of Trustees invited the College community to consider two candidates for the role of MCC interim president. Feedback from students, faculty and staff was utilized during the decision process. The candidates visited MCC's Downtown and Brighton campuses in December 2019.

Interim President Candidates' Visit Schedule (revised)

Members of the College community provided feedback on the interim president candidates via online surveys. Survey responses informed the MCC Board of Trustees’ selection and recommendation of the interim president to the SUNY Board of Trustees and SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson.
