Engineering Technologies Lab Tour

The Optics Fabrication Lab, consists of Rooms 9-165 and 165A. The lab area is used by students to generate, grind and polish precision optical lenses. The lab features two state-of-the-art Optipro Inc. CNC fabrication machines and a Haas Mini-mill used to complete student projects.

In addition to additional legacy polishing equipment, the lab contains hand grinding machines, a fully equipped quality control testing and measuring area, a lens generator, and a couple of double-sided planetary polishing machines. Much of the very expensive equipment in the room was purchased using a variety of external grants and industrial funding sources or was donated by local Optical Industry partners.
