Paramedic Application Information

Thank you for your interest in Monroe Community College’s Paramedic program. This program looks for robust and enthusiastic candidates for the upcoming year. Admission to the Paramedic program is competitive and based on a point system.

Candidates will have the opportunity to apply for one of the following programs:

*Both include entry to NYS and National Registry certification upon completion of the program

The program follows the college academic calendar from August 26, 2024, through August 21, 2025. Class meets three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 0800-1230 hours at the Public Safety Training Facility located at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester NY 14624. Students will also attend clinical and field experiences weekly throughout the program.

Admission Requirements

Completed applications must be submitted by the deadline of June 1st at 2359 hours. To apply for this program, visit our admissions page, create an account (or log in to an existing account), and select the paramedic application (EM01 or EM05). Candidates will be required to include the following items with their application:

  • Cover letter of introduction
  • Resume
  • Letters of reference (at least two)
  • Proof of certifications - Eligible candidates must be a current NYS EMT-B or higher with at least one (1) year of prehospital or patient care experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Assessment Exam
  • Interview

The assessment consists of short answer and multiple-choice questions covering objectives from the NYS EMT-Basic curriculum, as well as general topics in mathematics and science. Candidates should plan on the assessment lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours, scheduled by the staff at the Public Safety Training Facility starting in April. Interviews will take place in June and are expected to be 30 minutes in length. Candidates will be notified of their application status no later than August 1st.
