What services are offered at the Viswanathan Dental Hygiene Clinic?
The Viswanathan Dental Hygiene Clinic provides care in a structured sequence from initiation to completion. The initial visit typically includes a comprehensive health history, oral health assessment, dental X-rays, periodontal charting, and an oral cancer screening. Based on these findings, a personalized treatment plan is developed, followed by preventive and therapeutic services such as dental cleanings (prophylaxis or periodontal therapy), fluoride treatments, and sealants as indicated. Throughout care, patients receive individualized oral hygiene instruction and risk assessment counseling.

Who can get dental treatment at MCC?
Patients age 3 and older who have not had a dental cleaning within the past 12 months may be eligible for care. The Viswanathan Dental Hygiene Clinic makes every effort to schedule recall appointments at 12-month intervals; however, appointments are based on student availability and are not guaranteed. Services provided do not replace regular dental exams or hygiene care from your dental office of record.

Who provides dental hygiene services at MCC?
All care is provided by dental hygiene students under licensed supervision; services do not replace care from a primary dentist.

How long will it take to complete my appointment?
Treatment typically requires multiple visits due to the teaching environment. Your initial appointment lasts about three hours, during which you’ll receive an estimate of additional visits.

What does it cost?
All dental hygiene services are provided at no cost. We appreciate your time and patience in supporting the education and training of our students.

Do I need an appointment?
Call (585) 292-2045 to schedule an appointment. The Dental Hygiene Clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with limited evening appointments available on those days. The clinic is closed during the summer. While every effort is made to schedule recall appointments, availability is not guaranteed, as the primary goal of the clinic is to provide a comprehensive learning experience for students by treating patients with a variety of needs and case complexities.

Where do I park?
Enter from E. Henrietta Road and turn right at the crossroads. Park in Lot “K.” At the lot entrance, wait for the arm to raise. Follow the lot to the designated dental patient parking area to the right of the parking lot. Parking is metered—please bring $2.00 in quarters (8 quarters).
