Dental Hygiene

Monroe Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program offers a CODA Accredited program of study in a clinical  setting, providing students a quality educational experience. This is two year full time on campus program.

Dental hygienists in a clinical role assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate, and document treatment for prevention, intervention and control of oral diseases, while practicing in collaboration with other health professionals.

Admission Requirements

To be a qualified applicant, The following entrance requirements for Dental Hygiene must be met:

  • High school algebra or MTH 098 at MCC or equivalent/higher college level math with a grade of "C" or better
  • High school biology/living environment or BIO 120, BIO 133*, BIO 144, or BIO 155 at MCC or equivalent transfer credit with a grade of "C" or better.  Note: If applicant chooses to take the BIO 144/145 sequence, he/she will need the prerequisite of BIO 132 (lab) and BIO 133 (lecture).
  • High school chemistry or CHE 100, CHE 124, CHE 145, or CHE 151 at MCC or equivalent transfer credit with a grade of "C" or better
