2 Credits
An introductory course designed to develop entry level skills, including: workplace safety, proper use of hand tools and lifts, application of manufacturer vehicle information systems, vehicle express maintenance, scan tool usage and an overview of vehicle systems.

| TOY 192 - Automotive Electrical/Electronic Systems 1
3 Credits
This course emphasizes the study of automotive electricity including: Ohms law, circuit analysis, meter usage, oscilloscope usage, solid state components, magnetic induction, motor principles, wire repair, battery, starting and charging systems.
Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor.

| TOY 195 - Brakes
4 Credits
A class focusing on theory-related instruction and demonstration of testing and repair procedures covering automotive brake systems including: drum and disc brakes, hydraulic systems, power assist and anti-lock systems.
Prerequisite: TOY 191 with a grade of C or better.

| TOY 196 - Steering and Suspension
4 Credits
An in-depth study of adjustable and non-adjustable alignment measurements with emphasis on proper alignment techniques, methods of adjustment, and complete 4-wheel alignment, including: manual and power steering system diagnosis and repair, complete suspension system service including coil spring, torsion bar, and MacPherson struts.

| TOY 198 - Engine Repair
4 Credits
A class focusing on the 4-stroke theory and practical procedures necessary to diagnose and repair automotive type gasoline engines, including: diagnosis, component inspection, proper disassembly and reassembly procedures, and critical engine measurements.

| TOY 199 - Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning
3 Credits
A class focusing on theory-related instruction and demonstration of testing and repair procedures covering automotive heating and air conditioning systems. This course provides theory for R-12 and R-134a systems.

| TOY 200 - Engine Performance 1
3 Credits
This is the first of two courses covering the operation, inspection, diagnosis, service and repair of engine management systems. Topics of focus will include: operation and testing of the internal combustion engine and engine-and fuel-management systems, with an emphasis on ignition, fuel delivery, and computer input sensor diagnosis.
TOY 198 and TOY 203, each with a grade of C or better.

| TOY 201 - Engine Performance 2
4 Credits
This is the second of two courses covering the operation, inspection, diagnosis, service and repair of engine management Systems. Topics of focus will include: advanced level diagnostics including fuel trim, DTC's, drivability, Mode $06 scan tool usage, and emissions control systems.
Prerequisite: TOY 200 with a grade of C or better.

This course will focus on the theory, maintenance, diagnosis, and overhaul of automatic transmissions/transaxles, manual transmission/transaxles and clutches, drive axles, differentials and transfer cases.
Prerequisite(s): TOY 203 with a grade of C or better

| TOY 203 - Automotive Electrical/Electronic Systems 2
3 Credits
This class covers instruction and demonstration of testing and repair procedures covering automotive charging, starting, lighting, and accessories. Schematic reading and diagnostic techniques are emphasized throughout.
Prerequisite: TOY 192 with a grade of C or better.

| TOY 204 - Manual Drivetrain and Axles
3 Credits
This class focuses on the theory, operation, diagnosis, maintenance, and overhaul of manual transmissions and transaxles, front and rear drive axles and differentials, drivelines, and transfer cases.

| TOY 210 - Electrified Powertrain Systems
3 Credits
This class focuses on electrified vehicle propulsion technologies including hybrid/electric and fuel cell.
Topics covered include Hybrid and Electric vehicle operation, low voltage components, high voltage components, safety precautions, supporting systems, maintenance and diagnosis.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have the opportunity to earn Toyota Hybrid/Electric credentials.
Instructor Permission required and successful completion of TOY 192, TOY 203 (or equivalent; example Toyota 623 and 652).
