At Monroe Community College, we make it easy for every type of learner to find their path—whether you’re a recent high school graduate, an adult returning to school, a transfer student, or joining us from abroad. We offer flexible in-person, online, and hybrid program options, plus evening classes to fit your schedule.
DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, & microcredentials
MCC offers several types of programs to help you achieve your academic and career goals, including:
- A.A. and A.S. degrees are designed to easily transfer your completed coursework toward a variety of bachelor degree programs.
- A.A.S. degrees are designed to prepare you for full-time professional employment immediately after program completion.
- Certificates are focused on a specific career skill or technical area for entry into the workforce or as a stepping-stone to a degree. Because certificates require fewer credits than degrees, they can often be completed in one year or less.
- Microcredentials are concise, specialized programs centered around a specific field of study. Earning a microcredential typically takes several weeks to one semester, and can enhance job prospects, accelerate career advancement, or act as a stepping stone toward a full degree.
Depending on your academic program, you can earn your degree, certificate, or microcredential by studying:
- Full-time – Take 12 credit hours or more each semester to fully immerse yourself in college life.
- Part-time – Take between 6 and 11 credit hours per semester to balance college with work, family, and other responsibilities.
TRANSFER pathway program
MCC has partnered with over 20 public and private colleges in the Transfer Pathway Program to help you seamlessly transfer as a junior to a four-year institution. If you know what you’d like to study and which four-year school you want to transfer to, this program could be the right fit for your goals.
TAKE A CLASS OR TWO
Not every student is aiming to earn a degree right away—or at all! Whether you’re just trying out a college class, too busy to study full or part-time, or need a specific class to fulfill professional development, MCC offers hundreds of courses to meet your needs.
college now dual enrollment
MCC’s College Now Dual Enrollment program allows motivated high school students to experience college coursework and earn college credit at Monroe Community College, while also working toward their high school diplomas. Participating high school teachers are trained and certified to teach dual enrollment classes and work directly with MCC professors to develop the curriculum for each course.
