Candidates will be interviewed and are required to attend an orientation. Courses require the use of MCC text and assessments.

Master’s degree in English, Literary Studies, Humanities, or Education with 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in English, or Master’s degree in related field such as Literacy or English Education.

ENG 113 – Intro to Creative Writing WR (3 credits)

Master’s degree in English, Literary Studies, Humanities, or Education with 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in English, or Master’s degree in related field such as Literacy or English Education AND evidence of necessary skills in creative writing. Such skills can be demonstrated through a listing of public readings, publications in original literature (poetry/fiction/drama/nonfiction essays), and/or course work in graduate programs or various non-credit bearing workshops. Any extracurricular involvement connected with writing original work is also useful.

Master’s degree in Graphic Design and/or Fine Art, Multimedia, Visual Communication with a concentration in Graphic Design from a regionally accredited higher education institution. Expertise in current Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).

ART 101 – Art Essentials (3 credits)

MFA or MA in studio-based visual arts.

ART 104 – Drawing I: Foundations (3 credits)

COM 115 – Computer Generated Images (3 credits)

MFA or MA with a concentration in Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Media Design, Digital/Visual Communication.

ECO 101 – Introduction to Economics (3 credits)

Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or other Business discipline, or a Master’s degree in Education or another field with a minimum of 9 credits in Economics. Microeconomics and Macroeconomics are preferred; Intro to/Survey of Economics does meet the requirement when accompanied by 6 additional related credits. The related courses can include Managerial, Labor, Environmental Economics, Finance, Government or Business courses.

ECO 103 – Personal Money Management (3 credits)

Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or another Business discipline, or a Master’s degree in Education or another field with a minimum of 9 credits in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Business courses.

EDU 200 – Foundations of Education (3 credits)

Master's degree in Education or related field, plus three years teaching experience. Teacher Certification preferred. Ability to teach courses in education as shown by actual teaching experience or training.

CRJ 101 – Introduction to Criminal Justice (3 credits)

Master’s degree and experience in the Criminal Justice field, specifically law enforcement for police, courts (lawyers and judges) or corrections/probation/parole officers.

CRJ 103 – Constitutional Law and Rights of People (3 credits)

Master’s Degree in American History, Public Administration or JD. Three years prior experience teaching Constitutional Law, or American History or five years' experience in a related field, such as legal, Paralegal, security or law enforcement.

LAW 101 – Fundamentals of the Law (3 credits)

Master’s degree in a business discipline or Juris Doctor degree and experience as a business teacher or a teacher that was an attorney.

Master’s degree in health education, counseling, social work, hospice, mental health, or other health-related field from an accredited institution. Experience in hospice, funeral arrangements, grief counseling or care of the dying. Requires MCC textbook.

HED 116 – Issues in Child Development and Health (3 credits)

HED 130 – Foundations of Personal Health and Wellness (3 credits)

Master’s degree in health, health education, or health-related field from an accredited institution. Certification in health (CHES or NYS certification) or at least 30 health-related college credits. SAVE Certification or obtain prior to teaching assignment. Child Abuse Certification or obtain prior to teaching assignment. Requires MCC textbook.

PPE 100 – Introduction to Sport Science (4 credits)

Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Education, or related field from an accredited institution. Current Personal Trainer Certification in ACE, Cooper Institute, or ACSM.

PPE 179 – Lifeguarding (2 credits)

Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Education, or related field from an accredited institution. Current Certification from American Red Cross in CPR/FA/AED and WSI.

Must include a course or courses in the content area of the course to teach it – Statistics to teach 160, 161 or 162; Discrete Mathematics to teach MTH 220; Differential Equations to teach MTH 225.

Preferred requirements: Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or a closely related field and evidence of recent successful teaching experience in mathematics at the secondary, college, or university level.

Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology

HIS 109 – Global History I: to the 1500s (3 credits)

HIS 110 – Global History II: Since the 1500s WR (3 credits)

HIS 111 – US History to 1865 WR (3 credits)

HIS 112 – US History since 1865 WR (3 credits)

A Master's or Ph.D. in History (most desirable). Eighteen graduate hours (18) in History (workable). Where the applicant has engaged in an interdisciplinary course of study: A Master's in a related discipline to History, such as American Studies. In this situation, the transcript must be reviewed to ascertain: a) the number of graduate hours taken in History; b) the number of graduate hours taken in other disciplines; c) whether there is a significant curricular relationship among and between the courses in the program of study (requires the greatest amount of review and consideration).

POS 102 – American National Government (3 credits)

Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or American History accompanied by no less than 15 hours of graduate study in Political Science, American History, or related social sciences that prepare educators for civic life or American government instruction.
SOC 101 – Introduction to Sociology Minimum 12 credits with breakdown as follows at undergraduate and/or graduate level: Introduction to Sociology Course, additional 3 credits in Research Methods course, and an additional 6 credits in social sciences; specifically ethnic or gender or cultural studies or equivalent.
