Accommodation Letters

Students who are registered with the Disability Service Office will be able to access their accommodation letter for each semester they are enrolled in courses.

Accommodation Letters will be available electronically approximately 24 hours from the conclusion of an Intake appointment and/or approximately one week prior to the start of each semester, as long as the student is consecutively registered for courses. Accommodations will automatically renew each consecutive semester a student is enrolled for courses. If a student takes the fall or spring semester off, they are required to schedule an appointment upon return to reactivate accommodations. For future semesters, students are responsible for providing a copy of their updated Accommodation Letter(s) to all new instructors.

Communication is essential between the student and instructor. Students are expected to discuss the implementation of their approved accommodations with each instructor with as much advance notice as possible (i.e. during office hours, before or after class, or schedule a meeting).

How to Access Accommodation Letters

  1. Login to MyMCC
  2. Click the “Student Resources” tile.
  3. Click the “Disability Services” tile.
  4. Click on the “Access Your Accommodation Letters" button.

Students are responsible for providing a copy of their Accommodation Letter to each instructor.

For future semesters, students are expected to access Accommodation Letter(s) following the steps listed above and responsible for providing their letters to all new instructors.

Email Templates

Communication is essential between the student and instructor.  Students are expected to discuss the implementation of their approved accommodations with each instructor with as much advanced notice as possible.   Below are example email templates that can be used to assist with communication:

Template 1: Initial contact with the instructor

Dear <INSERT INSTRUCTOR'S NAME>,

My name is <INSERT YOUR NAME> and I am a student registered in your <INSERT COURSE>. I have attached a copy of my Academic Accommodation Letter for your file.  I would like to set up a time to discuss how I will access my approved accommodations in this course. Would you prefer I attend your office hours, or would a separate meeting be more appropriate given the nature of our conversation?

I look forward to connecting with you.

Thank you,
XXX

Template 2: Follow-up with instructor

Dear <INSERT PROFESSOR'S NAME>,

I am following up to our previous conversation to finalize arrangements for my approved <INSERT YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS HERE> accommodations in your course. If it would be helpful to reconnect, I would be happy to do so. Please let me know.

I hope to connect with you soon.

Thank you,
XXX
