Kevin S. Salva ’84
President Emeritus,
Zweigle’s, Inc.
Nominated by Julie Camardo & Karen Morris
“Monroe Community College has great value in our community. With the rising cost of education, I wish more kids and families would take advantage of the education and value for that education that MCC provides. MCC is not just a community college, it is a start of a great career.”
Kevin Salva credits his professors for making a difference and truly helping him succeed when he attended Monroe Community College. A graduate of MCC’s Mechanical Engineering Technology program, Kevin continued his education at Buffalo State University, captaining the varsity football team while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in management economics.
Kevin has built a remarkable career working as an engineer and in operations for several well-known food manufacturing companies including Frito Lay, Rosetto Foods/ORE-IDA Foods, Curtis Burns/Comstock Michigan Foods and Baldwin Richardson Foods, before taking a position at Zweigle’s, Inc. in 2005. The first president of Zweigle's to hold the title outside of the Zweigle family, Kevin led all operations, finance, and sales teams—mentoring leaders across departments and helping guide one of Rochester’s most iconic food brands. He has helped the company transition from a small local supplier of meat products to a manufacturer of private label meat products that have national distribution for several consumer product companies and retailers. Kevin is retiring from Zweigle’s in January 2026.
Highly respected in his field, Kevin has been interviewed and published in the meat industry magazine Meating Place on several occasions and has been invited by St. John Fisher University to speak to students in the MBA program on aspects of being a leader in the business world. Beyond his professional success, Kevin has served as president of the Eastern Meat Packers Association, supporting industry growth and collaboration across the country.
For more than 30 years, Kevin volunteered as a boys’ and girls’ soccer coach, for club, travel and school teams, mentoring players to value hard work, teamwork, and perseverance—on and off the field. Kevin is an avid golfer, likes to spend time with friends and family and helping others improve their game. Kevin resides in Fairport, NY, with his wife of 23 years Michele and their daughter Kacie, a Senior at Duquesne University in Pittsburg. Their son CJ, who passed away at the age of 18, is always in their hearts and is sharing today with all of us from a better place.
